Obituary for Robena Ann Harrison

Robena Ann Harrison
HARRISON, Robena Ann "Robbie"

At her home in Fenelon Falls on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Robbie was a long time psychiatric nurse at the Lindsay Outreach Clinic of Whitby Mental Health Centre. She was the former chair of the Mental Health Planning Group of Victoria County. Robbie was the founding co-leader of a clinical crisis group offered though a service agreement with Whitby Mental Health Centre in partnership with the Ross Memorial Hospital, well before an inpatient psychiatric unit existed. She was a pioneer in the mental health field. Recently when Robbie was asked what she missed about her work, she said above all she missed her clients the most. Robbie was a strong advocate for people with mental illness, and she had a very practical hands-on approach to treatment. Even when situations were tough, Robbie could be counted on to share a giggle and lighten up the day! Sadly she was pre-deceased by her mother, Barbara Louise Hutchinson, her father Lawrence Parker Harrison, and her stepfather Henry Seaton Hutchinson. Robbie will be loved forever by her closest friends: John Harvey of Gilmour, Mae Vaivods of Chatsworth, and Kelly Lynch of Lindsay. According to Robbie's wish her cremated remains will be interred in her parents’ plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery later in the spring. If desired memorial donations to the Ross Memorial Hospital would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & TRIBUTE CENTRE, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls.
