When I was a young mother I wanted to knit my son a sweater using more than one colour of yarn but I didn't know how. I went into Mrs. Rycroft's store which was on the main street of Fenelon Falls. She sat me down with the wool I needed and a pattern and showed me how to do this. When I felt I could knit it on my own I would go home but every time I got stuck I would go back to her shop and she would sit me down again and help me out of my mess. Not once did she ask for a fee for this nor did she ever seem to be in a hurry to get me out of the shop. This was the start of my knitting career. Her generosity has stuck with me and when I opened up my knit shop in Haliburton I have continued her path by offering free help. Mrs. Rycroft will be sadly missed xx00
